but the science tends to bore other enthusiasts when I try. The conversation hit a brick wall at this point, having a dad that is a lighting expert I thought I would try and tell him what he had told me on the subject and why it was going to look bad etc. that was when I'd asked him what he really knew about this kind of automotive lighting. then I'd asked why he'd bought this HID lighting and he'd said that he'll be able to see better because they're 8000k (which is terribly incorrect) and it looks so much cooler. Originally I'd asked if he had the proper housings for these lights and he said no, but they'll be fine because he'll aim them properly. I ran into a conversation (on facebook of all places.) about someone who had bought a headlamp HID kit and a fog lamp HID kit for their car.

Is it more of a choice/fashion statement change to be switching back to a halogen? Or are we all missing out on great light for a great price? PROS: relatively inexpensive, replaceable bulbs with variable wattage, great beam pattern, warm light, great luxĬONS: bulbs do burn out, the more lights the more amp draw on your wires and electrical system, some setups can get extremely hot during operation PROS: great beam patterns, strong housings, sealed wiring, rust free mounting, good warranty, great wattage and good luxĬONS: well price for one, higher theft rates, not really many cons to a good solid product that I can think of.

PROS: Price, availability, moderate durability, fast shipping, and low theft ratesĬONS: Scattered light pattern, low lux despite high lumen ratings, laughable IP68 rating, poor heat sync, plastic lenses (((I am certain there are more pros and cons than I have listed, but I just want to throw a few out there for you to build your thought process on here. Now, going from an Amazon light bar to some 100W KC's, I can see the benefits- but why are more and more people ditching their Rigids, Extreme LED, Black Oak, and Baja Designs to go with older tech? It seems that more and more rigs in my immediate area (Colorado) are switching to KC, Lightforce, and Hella, ditching their older light bars. Has anyone else noticed/followed suit with the re-emergence of halogen offroad lighting?
